In the second half of July we hosted Riga Stradins University Summer School for Cultural Journalists. Fife days young professionals in lectures, workshops an individual projects were looking for answers. What are challenges of cultural journalism when facing global issues? What are values we can define in cultural and professional contexts? How to treat them and hold them during practical work? What good practices show the way of possible solutions for the professional field working interculturally? What qualities, skills and knowledges are required to meet new challenges? What forms journalistic culture are received from the social environment and are deeply rooted in the cultural background of the country or/and region? What is the qualities of the cultural life (and cultural products)deserve public attention and how the quality can be ensured by cultural journalists? Those questions were discussed in the perspective of on-going glob/calization processes and problems, local differences and in close connection to the field of practice.
The summer school “From Global to Local” is organized by Riga Stradins University and Latvian Academy of Culture, State Research program EKOSOC-LV Nr.5.2.5 with support of Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
